Empowering India: The National Employment Generation Campaign (Phase-1)

What is the National Employment Generation Campaign (NEGC)?

Executive Summary:

National Employment Generation Campaign (NEGC) is an MSME-based model focused on promoting agricultural goods, training farmers, manufacturing food products through value addition, establishing a cold storage chain, popularising refrigerated transport services, eliminating middlemen, incorporating modern technology, and facilitating greater export opportunities.

Also, by providing a national and international market to the products manufactured by SHGs and to provide the youth with self-employment opportunities, the proposed campaign aims to empower farmers, women and youth by enhancing their income and living standards and contribute to India’s socio-economic growth.

The ultimate goal is to contribute to the national mission of making India a developed nation by the year 2047. This initiative explores the business model, government assistance, NGO collaboration, market benefits, international comparisons, climate analysis and financial plan for the same.

Project Overview: Understanding NEGC’s Mission and Vision

The agricultural sector in India is a critical component of the national economy, employing a significant 58% of the population. However, farmers face numerous challenges, including limited access to markets, lack of value addition opportunities, inadequate infrastructure, and exploitation by middlemen.

As per the National Sample Survey, the estimated average monthly income per agricultural household increased from Rs. 6426 in 2012-13 to Rs. 10,218 in 2018- 19. SOCIAL intends to address these issues through an integrated approach, combining capacity building, value addition, and market development and bring the average monthly income per agricultural household to Rs. 30,000 by the year 2030.

The target through promotion of the products manufactured by SHGs is that every SHG should be able to make 11 Lakh Rs per year as an addition to the existing household income through this campaign. It is also our aim to help every youth entrepreneur involved in this campaign to earn 7 Lakh Rs per year.
